Your free portal for horoscope and astrology about the Aquarius zodiac sign
According to the Greek mythology, Aquarius is often considered to be synonymous with the mythological god of Odysseus, King of Ithaca who reigned during the Troja War. Aquarius is also commonly associated with the Greco-Roman god Uranus/Caelus and also with the god Cronus/Saturn. In the Grecian mythology texts, Aquarius is acquainted with Ganymede, the bearer of the cup for the gods. According to Medieval astrology, Aquarius was associated with Saturn, together with Capricorn. A Han Talhoffer said about Saturn:
dz sind sine zaichen der stainbock der wasserman die sind kalt und trucken an irer nattur und glichent sich dem melancholicoß an siner nattur
"These are its signs: Capricorn and Aquarius, these are cold and dry by nature and correspond to the melancholic temper." (Thott 290 2º 143r)
In yet another cosmology, Aquarius is considered to be linked to the classical element Air. Thus Aquarius can be classified as an Air Sign along with its counterparts Libra and Gemini. The polar opposite of Aquarius is Leo. Another interesting bit of information is that Aquarius is a part of the four “fixed” signs, the other three being Leo, Scorpio, and Taurus.
Traditionally it is believed that Aquarius dwells in the hemisphere of Saturn. Post the discovery of Uranus, modern astrologers have believed that this is the ruling planet of Aquarius. In order to resolve this confusion many astrologers have labeled Uranus as the ruler or co-ruler of Aquarius. Since most Aquarians tend to be erratic, the habit has been linked with the planet’s influence.
Aquarian has an Indian equivalent as well, Kumbha. The Chinese Aquarian is considered to be equivalent to the Tiger.
